Introduction to the 1090+ Game Gauntlet (12/01/23)

Hi! This is the first blog entry I've ever written in my life, and as the first entry in my thousand-game series I suppose I should do an introduction of both myself and the blog.

I'm Gyga, and as of writing this, I'm a second-year college student. I'm a big fan of Nintendo, and in particular, my favorite systems are the DS and 3DS families and the Wii. The 3DS has become a large part of my identity. A friend of mine came up with the idea to play and beat every single DS game released in the US--I was inspired to do the same for the 3DS.

Now, I have made some rules and exceptions in the 3DS game gauntlet:

Originally, I also planned some specific exceptions. I still have some of them in place but I'm considering removing many of them for the sake of keeping integrity in the challenge. It wouldn't exactly be the best look if I beat every 3DS game...except the few that I didn't want to. Here are the exceptions, their current status, and their explanations:

Game Status Explanation
Ace Attorney Series Reconsidering I have played the mobile versions before (Switch in the case of the trilogy). However, it's been long enough for me to forget things and I feel like playing on the 3DS may feel different and justify replaying.
Ace Combat - Assault Horizon Legacy Excepted An enhanced version, "Ace Combat - Assault Horizon Legacy+" exists.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf Excepted An enhanced version, "Animal Crossing: New Leaf" exists.
Azure Striker Gunvolt Excepted There is a compilation title, "Azure Striker Gunvolt - Striker Pack" that includes both the first and second game.
Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 Excepted Same as above.
Cave Story Will Play There are two versions of Cave Story on the 3DS: this and Cave Story 3D. I initially decided that it wouldn't be worth it to play what is essentially the same game twice. However, I decided they seemed like different enough experiences and that I should play both after all.
Miitopia Reconsidering With the Switch version being vastly better with little reason to go back, I figured I shouldn't bother with the 3DS version. Now I'm leaning toward playing it, just because it's a highly replayable game anyways and I want to minimize the amount of exceptions I make.
Skylanders Series Will Play When I first compiled the list of 3DS games on my Backloggery, I realized that Skylanders would be a nightmare to play due to how expensive I was. Citra doesn't emulate IR accessories, so I thought I had no options. However, I recently learned that I can import a save file where someone has scanned in Skylanders without progressing through the game.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D Reconsidering I've played Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition before, and it is a long game. I'm going to be playing the multiple versions of several other RPGs, though, such as Yo-kai Watch 2 and every Pokemon game. Maybe it'd be unfair for me to exclude Xenoblade simply because I want to. One possible solution I've considered is just playing one chapter.
